Volunteers are always needed to... help with various specific events as well as additional committee members. Social Concerns is an active committee with lots of projects... and would like to do even more in the community, but needs your help to do so! Volunteers for a specific seasonal project are always welcome as well! Some programs that Social Concerns manages only during limited months each year include:
- Annual 'Red Shoe' Christmas Party for the children of the Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter and Good Shepherd Housing Foundation, where we invite local children in need to join us at GSLC to "shop" and pick out a Christmas gift for their mom and/or dad - feeling it to be an important point to teach the thought of 'giving' in the holiday season
- Toy collection for children of the Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter and Good Shepherd Housing Foundation during the holidays (in conjunction with the 'Red Shoe' Christmas Party
- Delivery of Easter baskets each spring to needy families in the community with an invitation to join us at Good Shepherd for Easter services
- Collection of school supplies in the fall for local children in need
- Assisting local Women's Shelters as needed
